This position is located in the Small Business Administration, Office of Field Operations - Region IV in Nashville, TN. Serves as a member of the District Office Team in a defined capacity and is an important contributor to the District's overall success.

Duties

With assistance of a senior staff member provides guidance to small business to aid in the development of small business principles and strategies to enhance their ability to compete successfully for both 8(a) and non-8(a) contracts. Assist in conducting training to small businesses eligible to apply for the 8(a) program and other SBA contract certification and business development programs. Research and coordinate training related materials to meet the needs of small businesses and SBA organizations and/or agencies. Assist in coordinating with the Office of Government Contracting Business Development as appropriate to meet compliance requirement. Assist in providing basic advice/counseling to assist firm in the development of realistic and attainable objectives for their business regarding federal contracting.

Qualifications

Recent Graduates Program Eligibility: To qualify for the Recent Graduates Program, applicants must have completed all requirements of an academic course of study leading to an associates, bachelor's, master's, professional, doctorate, vocational, or technical degree or qualifying certificate program from an accredited educational institution within the 2 years preceding the closing date of this announcement. Preference-eligible veterans who, due to military service obligations, were precluded from applying to the Program during any portion of the 2-year eligibility period are entitled to a full 2-year period of eligibility upon release or discharge from active duty. In no event, however, may the eligibility period extend beyond 6 years from the date on which the preference eligible veteran completed the requirements of an academic course of study. FOR RECENT GRADUATE ELIGIBILITY: The transcript(s) or official letter from the registrar's office MUST include the date your degree or certificate was conferred. Applications will not be considered without this documentation. NOTE: Copies of degrees, certificates, and diplomas are not considered acceptable documents to determine Recent Graduate Program eligibility. YOU MUST FIRST MEET RECENT GRADUATE PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION. YOU MAY THEN QUALIFY FOR THE POSITION BASED ON EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE OR A COMBINATION OF BOTH AS DETAILED BELOW. THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET PRIOR TO CLOSING DATE OF THE ANNOUNCEMENT: GS-09: At least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service, obtained in either the private or public sector, that demonstrates the ability to work in all of the following: assisting in reviewing, researching and referencing federal procurement laws, regulations, policies, and procedures; participating in outreach, training, presentations and education on a variety of business management and financial management topics; providing support to senior staff in promoting an organization's programs and services through outreach and marketing. These qualifications must be clearly referenced in your resume. Additional information on the qualification requirements is outlined in the OPM Qualifications Standards Handbook of General Schedule Positions. It is available for your review on OPM's Qualifications web site: General Business and Industry Series, 1101b Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. All qualification requirements must be met by 11:59 pm (Eastern Time) on 05/02/2024.

Education

If you do not meet the specialized experience requirements, you may also qualify with education. You MUST submit transcripts (official or unofficial) with this application if you wish to qualify based on education.

GS-09: A Master's or equivalent degree from an accredited college or university or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D., if related. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. You must submit transcripts (official or unofficial) to support this response. Combination of Experience and Education:
GS-09: A combination of related graduate education and specialized experience as specified above. For example, an applicant who has 1 full year of Masters level education (i.e. 50% of education required) and 6 months of creditable specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level as described above (i.e. 50% of the required experience) would equate to 100% of the required experience for the position.
