The primary purposes of this position is to undertake the accessioning and cataloguing of pre-1900 prints, drawings, and illustrated books and to ensure the safe and orderly storage, access, and transport of those works, including the maintenance of the storage area itself.

Qualifications

Candidates must meet the Qualification Standards Handbook requirements for the GS-1016-9. A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 in the Federal service. For this position, specialized experience must be equivalent to the GS 7 level in federal service or private sector, undertaking the accessioning and cataloguing of pre-1900 prints, drawings, and illustrated books and to ensure the safe and orderly storage, access, and transport of those works, including the maintenance of the storage for a major organization Your application and resume must demonstrate that you possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs). Strong organizational skills. 2. Ability to work independently, and to accomplish tasks in an effective and timely way with close attention to accuracy and detail. 3. Ability to work in coordination with fellow staff members as well as those of other divisions with responsibilities and activities that pertain to the CG Storerooms. Equally, ability to work effectively with others at all levels, individually or as part of a team. 4. Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form with fellow staff members, professional colleagues, members of the public, collectors, donors, building staff contractors, and other contacts.  Ability to deal comfortably and tactfully with people from all walks of life. You may substitute education for specialized experience with 2 full academic years of progressively higher level graduate education or master's or equivalent graduate degree related to the position. (Related fields of study include collections management, registration, cataloging, research, preservation, restoration, or conservation of collections of museum material, or other experience related to the position to be filled. Most positions require a particular subject-matter specialization, e.g., aeronautics, anthropology, art, geology, history, natural science, technology, biology, or zoology.)
