This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration. Incumbent performs various duties related to the delivery, transfer, reference, and accessioning or disposition of records, and provides assistance to agency customers.

Duties

As an Archives Technician, you will: Perform standard records management activities in support of agency records management needs. Provide reference service for records in various filing systems and refile or interfile records in various filing system. Perform various duties related to the acceptance of incoming transfers of Federal records. Transcribe information found and prepare material for transmittal to the requesting agency or individual.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. Specialized Experience for the GS-05 grade level is defined as one year of experience at the GS-04 grade level, or equivalent, that is typically in or related to the position and which equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Specialized experience for this position is defined as experience: Operating office automation programs for maintaining database information; AND Reviewing files or documents for completeness and compliance with established guidelines; AND Responding to customer inquiries, verbally or in writing. OR You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: 4 years above high school OR You may qualify by a combination of experience and education.NOTE: Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. For the GS-05, you may be advanced to the GS-05 position if you have held a position no lower than GS-03 in the preceding year under your latest non-temporary competitive appointment OR have held a position at GS-05 or higher under a non-temporary appointment at any time in the past.

Education

Education Requirements: The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
