You will serve as an Interdisciplinary Engineer (Mechanical/Electronics/Aerospace) in the Fleet Support Team Engineering Division of FLTREADCEN EAST. More specifically, you will serve as the V-22 FST detachment lead at MCAS Miramar and be responsible for the engineering products and services for multiple sites.

Duties

You will manage engineering support activities as required to successfully support MV-22 fleet operations. You will explore advanced technological techniques and practices to develop and recommend innovative support strategies to meet Cost Wise Readiness goals and reduce aircraft Cost of Operations. You will recommend and oversee adjustments to maintenance tasks and intervals, analyses system/equipment and data to determine supportability improvements. You will evaluate and oversee modifications within the operating envelope (as defined by operational requirement specifications) to safety, readiness, and/or cost goals and objectives. You will monitor and oversee adjustments to supportability requirements including configuration management, technical data, training, supply support and support equipment.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-13) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: (1) Developing complex engineering solutions for significantly challenging fleet and depot issues and in service repairs in order to support the in-service functions; (2) Leading projects and multi-disciplined teams to establish support system performance criteria, procedures or instructions; (3) Communicating highly complex and controversial technical information to local, programmatic, and higher echelon command/ activities; (4) Coordinating, managing, leading complex and safety issues to uphold technical conscience while addressing program/fleet requirements; (5) Performing engineering technical analyses, investigations, economic analysis and support services to the operational community. Education

Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above). Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
