You will serve as a ELECTRIC POWER CONTROLLER in the UTILITIES DIVISION ELECTRICAL BRANCH of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND HAWAII.

Duties

You will receives trouble calls 24 hours daily and refer to those of concerned for appropriate department action. You will issue orders by radio or phone relating to substation operation switching, metering or removal and return to service of lines and equipment. You will dispatch High Voltage Electricians to trouble areas during emergency. You will take over assigned watch and check on power distribution patterns by reviewing load demand records, examining dispatch of power orders, and observing conditions reflected on master diagrams and panel boards. You will operate a central switchboard to actuate remotely controlled circuit breakers, transformers, and switches to regulate and maintain correct voltage on distribution lines.

Requirements

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION performing the following: 1) Distributing and controlling electrical distribution systems; 2) Operating switchboards to remotely control circuit breakers, transformers and switches in order to regulate and maintain proper voltage on the distribution lines; and 3) Interpreting operating instructions and distribution equipment operating criteria to determine when to adjust the taps on an transformer in order to maintain voltage on the feeder. **NOTE** This information must be clearly supported in your resume.
