George Washington Memorial Parkway runs along the Potomac River through two states-Virginia and Maryland-as well as the District of Columbia, protecting the landscape and natural shoreline of the river while offering magnificent scenic vistas of Washington, D.C., and the Great Falls of the Potomac. Along its route, the parkway also connects several important historic sites, memorials, and scenic and recreation areas in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area.

Duties

The primary purpose of the position is to perform recurring building and/or utility maintenance and operation duties and to assist journeymen and other higher-graded workers. Incumbent utilizes knowledge and skills in several trades and crafts. As a Maintenance Worker you will: Working largely without direct supervision, operates and performs minor maintenance on a variety of vehicles such as front- end loader, 5-ton dump truck, hot oil distributor, road brooms, street sweepers, asphalt lay down machine, etc. Operates equipment on flat or rolling terrain, construction sites, wet and/or snowy conditions. Performs duties such as plowing snow, spreading road material, hauling materials to job site, loading material on dump truck, removing rockslides, clearing sides of roads, removing hazardous trees, and compacting asphalt etc. Perform functions such as painting, plumbing; trails and grounds work; trash and debris clean-up.

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability to Do the Work of the Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (SCREEN OUT) Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation Repair, etc Technical Practices (theoretical precise, artistic) Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprints reading) Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment.
