You will serve as a LEAD FIREFIGHTER (BASIC LIFE SUPPORT) in the NAVY FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES of NAVAL AIR STATION.

Duties

You will respond to medical emergencies (e.g., sudden illness, accidental injuries, childbirth) to provide immediate medical attention and treatment. You will conduct proficiency training evaluations to monitor training needs of employees. You will employ hazardous materials response procedures and equipment to mitigate hazardous materials incidents. You will prepare reports for the supervisor concerning fire runs, training, maintenance, inspections, or other topics.

  • You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States drivers license.

  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • This position requires the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth.
  • Employee is required to use all safety equipment and clothing provided by management.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Assisting in reduction and elimination of potential fires; 2) Operating a variety of firefighter vehicles, apparatuses or equipment; 3) Initiating established medical protocols to perform basic life support and performing non-invasive emergency medical procedures; and 4) Instructing employees on specific tasks and firefighting techniques. NOTE: This information must be supported in your resume to be considered for the position. This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Firefighter I and II, Fire Officer I, Fire Instructor I, Fire Inspector I, HAZMAT Technician, Apparatus Driver/Operator-Pumper, Driver/Operator-Aerial, Driver/Operator-ARFF, Airport Fire Fighter, CPR and NR EMT. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement.
