THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a TITLE 5 SOCIAL WORKER (MI OSS), Position Description Number T5013000 and is part of the MI JFHQ Army, National Guard.

Duties

***THIS IS A TITLE 5 EXCEPTED NATIONAL GUARD POSITION*** The primary purpose of the position is: to provide preventive, remedial, and support services aimed at improving and sustaining the psychological health of National Guard (NG) military members and their families. As part of the Office of the State Surgeon the incumbent of this position provides access to a full range of professional services and activities for the eligible populations served. Duties focus on outreach, education and prevention, needs-based and psychosocial assessment, diagnosis, short-term problem resolution, and provision of or referral to evidenced-based interventions. Responsibilities include providing: primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention programs, specialty training for NG health care professionals and other personnel on issues related multi-level community organization, collaboration, and enhancement. 1. Coordinate with the National Guard community serving the military and non-military agencies to promote timely information exchange, collaborative prevention efforts, and establish and maintain an extensive array of resources, associations, and community partnerships. 2. Conducts needs assessments, intake evaluations, and psycho-diagnostic assessments. 3. Coordinates, and implements prevention and community outreach and education programs. 4. Coordinate as key facilitator and team lead in the development and implementation of an annual, unit-level psychological health strategic plan. 5. Develop, teach, and provide oversight for classes that promote education and skill-building to enhance psychological and physical health. 6. Responsible for marketing and marketing evaluation activities.

Experience demonstrates particular competencies of knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Knowledge of social work theories, principles, techniques, and resources. Must have specialized experience in professional social work that includes interviewing people to establish the nature and extent of their problems, helping them work-out plans for improving the situation, providing assistance and services, referring them to community resources and other organizations as indicated, and assisting them to understand and modify their own patterns of behavior when appropriate. Except as stated above, no other substitution of education for specialized experience is allowed.

Education

You must meet the following Education requirement to qualify for this position:

Degree: Social Work. Must fulfill all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

License: Current and unrestricted social worker state license

You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your Educational claims. To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.
