This position is part of the WAPA-UGP-Upper Great Plains, Department of Energy. As a Student Trainee (Environmental Protection), you will be assisting other Environmental Protection Specialist in the performance of their duties. This includes developing an understanding of the National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA), **This is not a remote position. The selectee will be required to be physically present at one of the duty location(s) identified.**

Duties

As a Student Trainee (Environmental Protection) you will perform the following duties: Completes assignments supporting operations and activities and develops understanding of Upper Great Plains Region National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) program, and Environmental Protection. Completes assignments and/or training to build knowledge and skills to review NEPA documents including Categorical Exclusions (CXs), Environmental Assessments (EAs) and Environmental Impact Statements (EISs), and other supporting documents. Organizes project and administrative records. Collects information and enters data into spreadsheets, other documents, using a computer and general office automation software applications. Prepares charts and reports for further review. Uses photocopiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment as required. Obtains and develops understanding of Environmental Laws to complete assignments. Attends meetings, inspections, surveys, and investigations. Attends assigned developmental training. Performs other duties as assigned.

NOTE: You must meet qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement. In addition to the Pathways Internship Program eligibility requirements, Pathways Interns qualify for an initial appointment based on their educational achievements as described below: Qualifications: For the GS-03 level: Completion of 30 semester hours or more of post high school study leading towards a qualifying degree. For the GS-04 level: Completion of 60 semester hours or more of post high school study leading towards a qualifying degree or an associate's degree. The required education must lead to a degree with specialization in or directly related to the field in which the student trainees will receive training on the job. The degree of specialization in this field must satisfy on graduation the specific educational requirements in the qualification standard for the corresponding two-grade interval positions. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. ***For completed educational programs or equivalent during Spring/Summer 2024, proof of acceptance or current enrollment in an accredited college/university for Fall 2024 must be provided**

Education

TRANSCRIPTS: You must submit a copy of your current transcripts for proof of education and enrollment. If you are not currently enrolled but have been accepted for future enrollment, you must submit a copy of your acceptance letter with your application. The absence of this information will result in an ineligible rating. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

CERTIFICATE: A Certificate program is a post-secondary educational program, in a qualifying educational institution, equivalent to at least one full- time academic year of study, that is part of an accredited college-level, technical, trade, vocational or business school curriculum. Transcripts would need to be provided.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in a conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. For special instructions pertaining to foreign education and a list of organizations that can evaluate foreign education, see the Department of Education website.
