About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. Duties
Responsible for overall supervision, management and, implementation of the Physical Security program for JIATF South.
Performs highly complex physical security, anti-terrorism and force protection functions and other tasks relative to the overall security program.
Administers and oversees the installation of interior and exterior physical security system components such as security containers, locking devices, fence alarm systems, barricades, closed circuit television system and security lighting
Serves as a Supervisory Security Specialist (Physical) in the Directorate for Intelligence and Security (J2), Joint Interagency Task Force South (JIATF South).
Develops and interprets broad physical security policies and regulations, making recommendations for changes in basic physical security processes and methods to satisfy policy and operational requirements.
Collects, reviews, evaluates, and integrates information from multiple sources in assessing the significance of physical, technical or administrative security programs.
Provides program requirements and executes Physical Security budget based on experience and projected installation projects and workload. Executes the Physical Security program budget program.
Negotiates security guard, escort, and other physical security contract requirements. Monitors security guard and escort performance to ensure contractual obligations are continually met.
Exercises day-to-day supervision over assigned personnel, distributes work assignments, establishes workload priorities, conducts training, and reviews work of subordinates.
Identifies professional development and training needs for improvement of subordinates and evaluates subordinates’ performance through the performance appraisal process.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
- In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret (TS) security clearance based on a T5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
- May require Temporary Duty (TDY) travel both CONUS and OCONUS up to 25% of the time.
- Must be available for recall outside normal working hours, including weekends and holidays.
- A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.
- During emergency situations will be required to perform "Mission Essential" duties as described in the Joint Interagency Task Force (JIATF) South Continuity of Operations Plan.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
One year of specialized experience which includes meeting 1 or 2 experience mentioned below; 1.) planning on-site physical security surveys and/or inspections; 2.) evaluating physical security information pertaining to systems and procedures; AND 3.) maintaining contacts with security professionals and/or organizations regarding physical security program requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS/GG-12).
Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.
