The position serves as a Student Trainee (Audiovisual Production) in the DMA Pathways intern program and is concurrently enrolled at an accredited college/university for the purpose of completing the academic curriculum required for a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Audiovisual Production or a closely related field. The intern program affords a student the opportunity to receive work experience which is directly related to the student's academic program and career goals.

Duties

The incumbent will serve in a student trainee developmental capacity and receive formal classroom and/or on-the-job training in principles, concepts, and work processes to specialize in the Audiovisual field of study. Works under the guidance of and assists experienced Public Affairs personnel in performing the more basic assignments of tasks such as ingesting and logging video footage, transcribing video interviews, production assistance on local video shoots, studio camera operation, and basic video editing. Performs other basic audiovisual assignments as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Must be enrolled in college/university throughout internship
  • Must be enrolled as a degree OR degree seeking student in an accredited institution of higher education, at least part time, and remain enrolled for the duration of the internship (proof of enrollment is required with your application package).
  • Remain in good academic standing in accordance with Participant Agreement. Failure to do so will result in termination of employment.
  • Transcript must state major, earned credit hours, and cumulative GPA of at least a 2.0, and must include school and student identification on them or they will NOT be considered.
  • This position is in the excepted service.
  • Must submit current and future transcripts as proof of enrollment.
  • Selectee will be required to sign pathways agreement.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-05, if you fulfill the following qualifications: For GS-5: Must have successfully completed 4 academic years of post high school leading to a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree. (One academic year of undergraduate education is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in an accredited college or university).

GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours that your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
