THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a Painter, Position Description Number PDD2127000 and is part of the WY Combined Support Maintenance Shop, Wyoming Army National Guard.

Duties

The primary purpose of this position is to prepare and apply coating materials such as paints, varnishes, and rust proofing compounds on stationary and mobile equipment and on combat, tactical, and commercial vehicles. (1) Prepares surfaces (i.e., metal, wood and glass) by removing rust, paint, and loose particles. (2) Prepares coating materials using guidelines set by the manufacturer, by tinting, toning, etching, blending, and mixing in various additives (i.e., retardants, hardeners, drying agents, and other additives) needed for the different coatings to work properly and achieve the necessary surface appearance. (3) Applies coatings using acceptable methods of the trade to include special finishing techniques to achieve desired results. (4) Monitors and adjusts air pressures in paint booth, controls heat settings and drying times in drying booth to achieve proper surface adhesion of coatings. (5) Applies Chemical Agent Reactive Coating (CARC) materials in accordance with specifications and dimensions. ** This is NOT an all-inclusive list of duties. **

If referrals are not made from the target category, subsequent referrals may next be made from Area 6 (if eligible). Area 1: All permanent and indefinite Wyoming National Guard (NG) WY ARNG employees assigned to the Combined Support Maintenance Shop. Area 2: All permanent and indefinite Wyoming National Guard (NG) T32 Dual Status technicians employed within the Wyoming Army National Guard. Area 4: All current M-day soldiers of the Wyoming Army National Guard. Area 6: Current military members of the US Army, Army Reserves, or other states' Army National Guard units. Must be willing/eligible to join the Wyoming Army National Guard as a military member prior to appointment to position. MILITARY GRADE In-State Applicants: Min: E1 / PVT Max: E8 / MSG Out-of-State Applicants: Min: E1 / PVT Max: E7 / SFC Out-of-State enlisted applicant's military grade cannot exceed the maximum military grade authorized. DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Work involved in applying coating materials (for example, paint, varnish, lacquer, shellac, epoxy, epoxy resin, and Teflon) on wood, glass, synthetic, concrete, and other surfaces. Work is done with brushes, rollers, spray guns and other related methods and techniques and is performed on the insides and outsides of buildings, aircraft, vessels, mobile equipment, fittings, furnishings, machinery, and other surfaces. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Must possess experience or training which demonstrates the candidate's knowledge of surface preparation (removal of rust, dirt, paint, etc.); coating methods (brushing, rolling, and spraying); and coating materials (paints, varnishes, shellacs, etc.). Must have the ability to use tools and equipment associated with the painting trade and to read and interpret directions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience or training which demonstrates the candidate's knowledge of any surface preparation and coating methods and techniques. Skill in building up, shaping, and leveling surfaces with metal and synthetic resins, plastics, and patching compounds; obtain finely smoothed surfaces with abrasive compounds, pumice, and rottenstone; even out dents and scars by burning-in processes; and treat surfaces with pre-coating agents. NOTE: Minimum Requirements and Specialized Experience will be used to determine qualifications for the announced position. Applicants must provide from (e.g., 02/2015 - 03/2017 or Feb 2017 - Mar 2017) dates and hours worked per week with description of your specialized experience on the resume. MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Selected candidates will be required to be in a compatible military grade and assignment prior to the effective date of placement. Per 10 USC 10216(b)(1)(C): Those organizations with the primary mission of providing direct support surface and aviation maintenance for the reserve components of the Army and Air Force, to the extent that the military technicians (dual status) in such units would mobilize and deploy in a skill that is compatible with their civilian position skill. (e.g., aircraft mechanics must be compatible) DRIVER'S LICENSE: Must possess a valid driver's license.
