You will serve as a TOOLS AND PARTS ATTENDANT in the Production Resources Department of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will set up storage location for tools, parts, and equipment by evaluating a wide variety of factors, e.g., space availability, work sequences, convenience of handing and moving items, temperature, humidity, height and weight of objects. You will receive request for tools, parts, and equipment through diverse means including phone calls, face-to-face contact, emails, and correspondences or directives related to specific projects. You will identify and select item based on descriptions by the requester of the intended usage. You will receive and check in tools and equipment, verifying that all identification numbers and related data is accurate. You will make minor repairs such as changing blades or greasing and oiling powered hand equipment. You will track all items by use of automated inventory systems and input data regarding the location of the item, status, repair and maintenance services performed, dates of actions taken, and any data pertinent to the history of the item. You will be required to transport tools, parts and equipment to various job sites including waterfront locations and onboard naval vessels.

Requirements

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
