You will serve as a ELECTRICAL FIRE ALARM MECHANIC in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.

Duties

You will operate instruments or equipment (e.g., transistor tester, oscilloscope, logic compactor, laptop computer, digital and meter-type vom, alarm eppom programmers) for alarm systems and special purpose test sets. You will maintain or modify functional subsystems integrated within fire protection alarm systems. You will select and use tools to install and repair fire alarms or electronic systems, components, and devices. You will perform functional tests on subsystems as part of a scheduled maintenance program. You will perform overhaul, calibration, installation, modification, or alignment of sensor subsystems and logic subsystems.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certification within six months of appointment.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION: 1) Maintaining various alarm systems that include Pyrotronics, Gamewell, and Fire Control Instruments; 2) Programming control panels and automatic power transfer switches; and 3) Inspecting and testing control panels, ensuring proper operability, maintenance and correcting deficiencies. **NOTE** This information must be clearly supported in your resume.
