This TRAINING SUPPORT OFFICER is located in the California Army National Guard Training Center and is part of the CA Training Site CR.

Duties

THIS IS A T5 EXCEPTED SERVICE, INDEFINITE POSITION. Selectee may be non-competitively converted to permanent status if/when funding becomes available or position becomes unencumbered. The primary purpose of the TRAINING SUPPORT OFFICER, GS-0301-12, is to plan and execute the total Training Support Center program for the GTC in support of the designated area of responsibility (AoR). In this capacity, manages, directs, and controls operations of the TSC, providing a single point of contact at the ARNG GTC for managing training support systems, equipment, materials, services, production, and all other as related to the family of Training Aids, Devices, Simulators, and Simulations (TADSS), including the definitive interpretation of regulations and procedures as well as the initial development and application of new methods and techniques for Soldier training support. Supervises and administers training aids responsibility for the Commander, staff directorate chiefs, and training activities of the ARNG GTC. Incumbent is also responsible for organizational budget and equipment replacement planning Serves as Approving Official for TSC Government Purchase Card transactions.

Qualifications

TRAINING SUPPORT OFFICER, GS-0301-12: Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-11 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the GS grade indicated. Specialized experience may have been demonstrated by performing duties such as: Experience evaluating and approving/disapproving requests from supported activities for additional or new training equipment and determines validity of these services and methods for accomplishment by the best means to satisfy needs of the U.S. Army; Experience communicating technical information and coordinating external TADSS support with managers, and other commands, other installations, and other activities to satisfy ARNG GTC mission requirements or to provide TADSS support for other organizations; Experience reporting adequacy of TSC facilities and equipment and coordinates with appropriate activities at the installation to secure necessary allocations; Experience coordinating with staff officers, operating officials, and higher headquarters personnel through telephone contacts, conference participation, written reports, personal visits, or electronic means.
