Assists with planning, estimating, and directing work in connection with the maintenance and improvement of navigation channels, guide walls, breakwaters, piers, dikes, harbors, and other waterway structures or features on rivers, straits, island channels and harbors located within the district Area Offices' responsibility, by Government floating plant, survey assets, and hired labor, or by contract with private dredging and marine construction companies.
Duties
Prepares or assist junior employees with the preparation of scopes of work and cost estimates for each project
Reviews drawings, computations, reports and surveys
Participates in hydrographic survey parties in sweeping and locating shoals and other high spots in channels.
Assists in project oversight during needed repairs in guide walls, breakwaters, dikes, and docks.
Gathers plant usage data and compiles reports each month.
Makes routine field visits to assist Masters with equipping and repair requirements on floating plants, tugs, small craft, and other equipment.
Utilizes standard USACE CADD software as well as optional software for modeling and FEA analysis of mechanical components, mechanical systems and fabrications, and civil structures.
Ensures all floating plant, tugs, cranes, small craft, are serviced and inspected.
Prepares reports for the Chief to review and present during funding reviews and to assist with work load planning.
Prepares FEM work orders for the assigned Section.

Specialized Experience:
I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes: Applying a full range of principles, concepts, and methods of facility administration; inspecting government equipment; coordinating facilities and equipment management with the district manager; developing detailed plans, establishing the schedule, settings goals (short and long-range) and objectives for various projects. Develops programs, policies and procedures to effect sound management of facility operations; prepare the design and construction of fixtures, equipment, and devices utilized on the various floating plant.
