You will serve as a RANGE OPERATIONS SPECIALIST in the Dare County Target Range of NAVY DARE COUNTY TARGET CMPLEX.

Duties

You will oversee the Dare Complex Ordnance Range Safety Program and serves as a primary advisor to the command in all mattes related to ordnance safety. You will oversee the Dare Complex Laser Safety Program and serves as expert advisor to the command in all matters related to laser safety. You will monitor contractor purchases to ensure expenditures are within operating budget and cost control is practiced. You will evaluate the operation of Government owned support equipment to ensure performance is within design specifications, and that the usage is in accordance with established or intended purpose. You will prepare and submit recommended changes in range operation for approval to update the Range Manual. You will represent the Range Operations Department (ROD) in all matters pertaining to technical policy and procedures related to contract execution.

Requirements

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is eligible for part time, substantial or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card to make official government purchases for goods and services.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Defining problems, analyzing alternative, and recommending solutions. Implementing ordnance safety laws, regulations, standards and requirement. Implementing ordnance training, equipment systems training, ordnance range cleanup, and facility maintenance. Monitoring contractor purchases, monitor operating budgets and cost control. Communicating orally and in writing.
