This position is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Mid-Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6), Salem VA Healthcare System, Salem Virginia, in the Associates Director /Patient Care/ Nursing Service Line. This position is aligned with the Transfer Office Program, under the Nursing Operations Service. Ensures Veterans receive support services as they transition between levels of care in the VA system.
Duties
Assists the Transfer Office staff in the planning, review, and reporting of data/statistical results of the Transfer Office.
Performs basic analysis of the data and generates a variety of reports.
Prepares a wide variety of recurring and nonrecurring correspondence, reports, and other documents and reviews and finalizes documents by others in handwritten or electronic drafts.
Composes routine nontechnical correspondence, such as instructions on office procedures, requests, and notifications.
Gathers and summarizes information from a variety of files and documents for use in coordinating care of Veterans.
Responsible for coordinating the outreach initiative designed to facilitate the delivery of services to Veterans hospitalized at non-VA care facilities.
Monitors and categorizes requests received in the Transfer Office and serves as the first point of contact and subject matter expert regarding questions about coordination of referrals while building community partnership.
Provides resources and referrals to inpatient Veterans at non-VA care facilities by requesting Veteran records from community providers who are seeking service-connected benefits.
Uses software applications (i.e. VISTA, VSSC, Pyramid Analytics, CPRS etc.) to draw information from a wide variety of sources.
Serves as a record liaison by facilitating the records received are appropriately sent to scanning to be uploaded in Veteran files or sent to corresponding departments for action.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: 8:00am-4:30pm Monday-Friday
Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. This position may be authorized for telework. Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 05/03/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-6. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

Preferred experience: Healthcare experience, LPN and CPRS.

Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-6 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Performing administrative and clerical work in an office setting; Knowledge of research principles and practices; Assisting with day-to-day activities; Creating agendas and writing committee minutes; Collecting and compiling data; Preparing correspondence and reports; Utilizing automated software (such as Microsoft Word, Excel, MS Teams, MS Outlook, utilizing office automated systems, and office equipment); and maintaining records; Receiving and processing documents and reports in accordance with established procedures; Tracking suspense's on items; and the Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with a variety of people from different backgrounds and different levels of understanding and knowledge..

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary and is performed by sitting, standing, bending, and stooping. The employee is required to obtain records from files, and carry files, manuals, and other light objects.
