This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, Director of Operational Logistics, Office of Base Operations (DOL-3), Base San Juan, in San Juan, PR. Note: There is a 2.81% (of basic pay) Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) authorized for this position location. Please see Nonforeign Area Cost-of-Living Allowances for more information. With PCS entitlement comes the eligibility for enrollment into the DoDEA School

Duties

This position is located within the housing management office of a major field command. The incumbent is responsible for the accomplishment of broad management functions associated with the operation and utilization of family and unaccompanied personnel housing (UPH) and housing referral services at the installation.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • The position requires a valid state driver's license.
  • This position requires a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.

Qualifications

To qualify for the GS-11 grade level, applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include:  Serves as Housing Manager, responsible for developing management plans and directives concerning the operation and utilization of housing assets, planning, scheduling, and coordinating of all major activities for housing projects and facilities associated with the installation. Conducts assignment, termination, maintenance, safety and cleanliness inspections of government quarters and grounds of a Coast Guard-owned housing facility Prepares correspondence, technical reports, status reports and schedules as required to implement and complete project assignments. Provides charts, graphs, and other media for depicting personnel-oriented housing data for use in briefings, seminars and training sessions National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.  If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Brach, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
