This position is located at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
Duties
Mechanic Maintenance Supervisor serves as the Foreman for all maintenance activities at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cememter (DFWNC) and has full responsibility for all the interment, headstone, grounds equipment, buildings/structures/monument maintenance, roadways, curbing, water features, committal shelters, irrigation system, complete inventory of vehicles and equipment. In the absence of the director or assistant director, incumbent may be called upon to serve in that capacity.
Incumbent plans daily, weekly, monthly, seasonal, preventative and maintenance work schedules toaccomplish all maintenance work. Establishes deadlines, priorities and work sequences and plans workassignments based on general work schedules, methods and guidelines set by higher level supervisors.Determines what is needed to accomplish specific projects, goals, and assignments. Redirectssubordinates and resources to accomplish un-anticipated work. Changes schedules, priorities, and worksequences as necessary and makes deviations in procedures or redirects resources under his/hercontrol to overcome problems such as equipment failure, emergencies, material delays or unplanned absences. Provide training in automotive mechanic and building maintenance techniques as required.
Provide orientation or cross training to cemetery staff on the use of all cemetery vehicles/equipment. Train employees on proper work routines, techniques, and protocols. Has responsibility for developing and maintaining a budget in appropriate fund control points for all maintenance operations. Helps to formulate and maintain the five-year equipment replacement plan. Initiates purchase order requests for equipment, tools, supplies and materials on a continuing bases to accomplish all related tasks and ensures receipt of resources to begin projects as scheduled, acquires cost Information and availability from local supply sources or mandatory federal sources for all supplies and services.
Work schedule: May be required to work Monday through Friday to include occasional weekends. Due to the mission of the National Cemetery, the cemetery cannot be closed for more than 2 consecutive days at any given time. Additionally, when a Federal holiday falls on a Monday or Friday, staff may be required to work on that holiday or a Saturday. All staff is required to work Memorial Day each year. Staff will be required to work overtime, weekends and holidays when necessary to meet the needs of the cemetery. Occasionally staff may be called back to the facility to perform emergency overtime work.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement,05/02/2024.
Your background must demonstrate supervisory and work involved in the full range of building and maintenance trades to include carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry, pest control, asphalt repairs, etc. This includes repair and preventive maintenance of irrigation systems, maintaining and repairing buildings and physical structures, facilities, and utilities using hand and power tools.
EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Physical Requirements: Requires prolonged and frequent walking, standing, bending, stopping and pulling. Climbs ladders and lifts objects weighing over fifty (50) pounds. Must have a full range of upper and lower extremities. Moderate effort required in operating vehicles and tools of the trade. Stamina, dexterity, and perseverance required in all aspects of incumbent's duties.
Working Conditions: Work is performed indoors and outdoors. Incumbent is subject to discomfort when working in unnatural positions for longer periods in all types of weather. Must work under stress and strain in dust, dirt, mud and water. Incumbent may be exposed to occupational injuries, such as cuts, scrapes, bruises, shock and dust from sawing materials, as well as other potential hazards working with machinery, saws and electrical test equipment while performing duties in this position.
