About the Position: This position falls under the Defense Health Network Atlanta, located at the McDonald Army Health Center. The incumbent performs a variety of pharmacy functions, including pharmaceutical nomenclatures and medication use, dosage forms, different systems of pharmaceutical measures, operation of pharmaceutical equipment, techniques involved in handling specialized pharmaceuticals, and dispensing medications to outpatients. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Manages a Pharmaceutical inventory of approximately 1200 line items with an annual budget of $8.8 million. Serves as point of contact for and operate and maintain the Prime Vendor computer systems. Manage the Department of Pharmacy Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support (DMLLS) database and monitoring system performance. Ensure the proper checks and balances (financial accountability procedures) are maintained between the Prime Vendor and DMLLS programs. Serve as point of contact for Reverse Distributor, coordinating visits, preparing documents necessary for turn-in, analyzing and solving problems and coordinating support from higher customer support as necessary. Responsible for the management of expired drug turn-in files. Processes reverse distributor invoices; ensures that the proper checks and balances (financial accountability procedures) are maintained between the Reverse Distributor and the Prime Vendor. Responsible for completion of provider orders for outpatient areas and administration required in support of the order. Physically prepare medications by acquiring, counting, compounding and visually checking for correctness.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must hold a current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS)Certification that is sponsored/endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA). Current Advance Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
  • All employees assigned to a Medical Treatment Facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations regardless of series, based on occupational risk, and are subject to missing/required immunizations.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • This position requires a pre-employment physical.
  • Incumbent may be required to work weekends and non-standard shifts when necessary.

Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes filling prescriptions using electronic systems, and dispensing or maintaining inventory of controlled and/or non-controlled drugs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Pharmacology. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
