Under minimum supervision incumbent performs a variety of tasks, including, but not limited to, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and dusting. Incumbent will receive training in all sanitation duties such as cleaning bathrooms, elevators, lobbies and clinic areas, and will receive minimum supervision in the performance of these tasks. Incumbent will assist with moving of furniture and furnishings, placement of furniture components for assembly, loading and unloading of boxes, bulky supplies, etc.

Duties

Manual skills and attention to details are required in performing sanitation and moving duties. Physical ability and standing for long period of time are required while accomplishing all assignments, safety and efficiently. Incumbent must understand patient rights while performing tasks. Must be able to read and understand MSDS on cleaning chemicals. Incumbent works under the minimum supervision of a first line supervisor in Environmental Management Service. Incumbent receives specific written and oral instructions on tasks to be performed and methods to be used in accomplishing these tasks. Incumbent must be constantly alert to act safety due to the nature of the tasks being performed. Work performed is thoroughly checked by the supervisor for completeness and accuracy on a daily basis and feedback on improper work performance is immediate. Work Schedule: Rotating Shifts, 7:00am to 3:30pm, 3:30pm to midnight & 11:00pm to 7:00am, including weekend and holidays. Position Description Title/PD#: Laborer/PD08240A Physical Requirements: Work involves light to moderate physical effort involving movement of furniture and furnishings, supplies, and material. Must be able to use a mop, broom and vacuum cleaner. Work may involve occasional lifting and carrying of up to fifty pounds (per person) and frequent lifting and carrying of objects such as supplies, boxes, chairs and items which weigh up to fifty pounds. Work involves pushing, pulling of carts, furniture dollies and other mobile items, such as beds and wheeled equipment. Work involves standing, bending, kneeling, and twisting for extended period of time. Any heavy lifting is done as a team effort with other laborers, Housekeeping Aids.
