About the Position: This position is for Family Medicine Service located at Evans Army Community Hospital Fort Carson, CO. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Advance in Hire MAY be authorized. A recruitment or relocation incentive MAY be authorized. An advanced leave accrual MAY be authorized.

Duties

Initiates screening of inpatients with moderate-severe mental disorders for suitability for testing. Recommends and implements modifications to standard procedures for individual patients. Observes and reports patient behavior, emotional status, and motivation during testing. Maintains rapport with patients and adjusts the level and manner of interaction to promote optimal effort and test validity.

• Required to be screened for and obtain necessary immunizations/vaccinations (hepatitis, influenza, etc.), unless exempted by a licensed physician.
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination. Must be able to lift 44 LBS.
• This position is inclement weather essential. This means that you must be willing to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized experience is defined as: screening and/or interviewing behavioral health patients; administering and/or scoring psychological tests; and serving as a member of a behavioral health team. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Psychology, Human Services, Child & Family Welfare, Counseling (ex. crisis, substance abuse, mental health, chemical dependence), Family and Community Services, Behavioral Science, Human Development, Social Work, Sociology, Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling or related field of study. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
