This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Cyber Security and related positions to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Serves as an Information Technology Specialist in the Classified Computing and COMSEC Branch of the Cyber Compliance Division, Cyber Security Directorate, CIO/G6.
Duties
Exercises primary responsibility for the accountability, issue, destruction and/or turn in of all COMSEC material, key, and equipment.
Prepares COMSEC maintenance forms, logs, and reports pertaining to COMSEC material accountability.
Instructs operators in matters pertaining to COMSEC equipment and COMSEC keying material to ensure continuity of operations and adherence to established policy and procedures.
Analyze, manage, or perform work necessary to plan, design, develop, acquire, document, test, implement, integrate, maintain, or modify systems.
Solve problems or accomplish work processes by using information technology (IT) systems such as computers, servers, routers, etc.
Prepare for and successfully pass all COMSEC audit/inspections and Command Cyber Readiness Inspection (CCRI) in accordance with regulations.
Develop and/or assist in the revision of regulations and SOPs to effect procedural and practical improvements in physical security.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent must obtain and maintain a TOP Secret clearance.
- Incumbent may be required to work overtime.
- TDY may be required up to 15% of the time.
- Incumbent is subject to pre employment and random drug testing.
- Incumbent is required to satisfactorily complete the appropriate training and obtain the required certification/recertification for this position as outlined in DoD Publication 8570.01-M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program.
- Within six months of appointment must possess or be able to obtain IAT-I or equivalent certification (A+CE, Network+CE, SSCP, CCNA-Security, or greater) and Computing Environment (CE) Certification.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Experience developing, implementing, and administering an IT security program. OR 2) Experience protecting, and restoring IT systems, services, and capabilities. OR 3) Experience conducting risk analysis of planned and installed systems to identify vulnerabilities, risks and protection. All experience areas shall additionally demonstrate each of the following: 1) Attention to Detail, 2) Customer Service, 3) Oral Communication 4) Problem Solving. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
