Duties

Serve as a Non-Tactical Vehicle (NTV) Fleet Manager. Develop corporate policy and provides oversight of the MEDCOM’s Transportation Fleet and Freight Management programs. Plan, establish, and develop overall transportation logistics performance criteria and ensures allocation of prescribed resources. Maintain continuous liaison regarding the NTV operations and vehicle policy issues with HQDA and GSA. Represent MEDCOM at high level transportation forums and meetings.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

AND/OR Experience: The OPM Qualification Standard provides the following examples: maintaining, retailing, purchasing, or procurement of automotive, rail, air, bus, or other transportation equipment or services, or in the operation of a commercial transportation facility or terminal. This experience must have demonstrated knowledge of fleet operations; familiarity with Federal, State, and municipal regulations governing the use of transportation vehicles; and the maintenance of inventories and cost computations. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing fleet management systems, such as GSA Drivethru and GSA Fleet, to track the maintenance of fleet equipment, replacement of equipment and approve requests; use freight management software, such as e.g., U.S. Bank's Syncada, to process and monitor shipment of packages and Commercial Bills of Lading (CBL); and develop policies and procedures for the Transportation Fleet and Freight management programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
