ORGANIZATIONAL LOCATION: Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Indian Health Service (IHS), Southwest Region, Phoenix Area, Colorado River Service Unit, Supai Health Clinic is located in Supai, Arizona. Position is supervised by the Supervisory Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist. Primary purpose of position is to perform highly complex radiologic examinations through the use of Radiologic equipment in support of patient care.

Duties

Working independently, performs a variety of Digital diagnostic studies utilizing Computed Radiographic (CR) or Direct Digital Radiographic (DR), portable digital Computed/Direct Digital Radiographic and ancillary digital computer equipment in support of the clinic within the scope of the Outpatient department and walk-in clinics at the Supai Health Clinic. Receives and schedules patients, explains methods of procedures, positions patients, selects and sets technical factors, sets up and adjusts accessory equipment and makes exposures necessary for requested procedures. Recognizes and reports or initiates maintenance requests of malfunctioning or intermittently failing equipment in accordance with established protocol. Participates in departmental QA/QC (Quality Assurance/Quality Control)programs and technique development programs. Participates in any or all required activities in support of the mission statement, performance contracts and Medical Imaging Program (Chapter 21. Indian Health Services Manual). Keeps abreast of changes through annual review of the hospitals Safety, Infection Control, and Policies & Procedure Manuals. Attends and/or participates in all mandatory training as prescribed by hospital administration. **This position is being announced concurrently under the Direct Hiring procedures. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. Individual Occupational Requirement Note: Public Law 97-35 requires that persons who administer radiologic procedures meet the credentialing standards in 42 CFR Part 75. Essentially, they must (l) have successfully completed an educational program that meets or exceeds the standards described in that regulation, and is accredited by an organization recognized by the Department of Education, and (2) be certified as radiographers in their field. The following meet these requirements:(l) Persons employed by the Federal Government as radiologic personnel prior to the effective date of the regulation (January 13, 1986) who show evidence of current or fully satisfactory performance or certification of such from a licensed practitioner such as a doctor of medicine, osteopathy, dentistry, podiatry, or chiropractic who prescribes radiologic procedures to others.(2) Persons first employed by the Federal Government as radiologic personnel after the effective date of the regulation who (a) received training from institutions in a State or foreign jurisdiction that did not accredit training in that particular field at the time of graduation, or (b) practiced in a State or foreign jurisdiction that did not license that particular field or did not allow special eligibility to take a licensure examination for those who did not graduate from an accredited educational program, provided that such persons show evidence of training, experience, and competence as determined by OPM or the employing agency. All applicants must also meet the requirements below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GS-0647-07: One (1) year of specialized experience that equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. This experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-06 level in the Federal service as described in the vacancy announcement. Examples include: receiving patients, explaining methods of procedures, positions and sets technical factors to attain a high quality radiograph; maintaining records of all functions of the department and keeping documentation on file as required; independently operating a fixed and portable radiography machine to meet the needs of the department; providing in service for other technologists and medical staff. OR Completed one full year (18 semester hours) of graduate level education directly related to the work of the position. (Transcripts required). OR Combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The total percentage equals at least 100 percent to qualify for this GS-07 grade level. (Transcripts required). MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, GS-0647-08: One (1) year of specialized experience that equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. This experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal service as described in the vacancy announcement. Examples include: receiving patients, explaining methods of procedures, positions and sets technical factors to attain a high quality radiograph; maintaining records of all functions of the department and keeping documentation on file as required; independently operating a fixed and portable radiography machine to meet the needs of the department; providing in service for other technologists and medical staff; Performs examinations according to physician instructions. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
