This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Aviation Logistics Center (ALC), Operations Staff (OPS), Elizabeth City, North Carolina.

Duties

As a Quality Assurance Specialist (Aircraft Weight & Balance), the incumbent is responsible for planning, developing and defining the organizational strategy and implementation of programs, processes and procedures for the weight and balance maintenance of agency aerial vehicles. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Qualifications

GS-11:  Applicant must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level in the Federal Service.  Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.  Examples of specialized experience include:  Verifying by test or inspection, using sampling inspection or intensive product inspection techniques, that aircraft comply with requirements. Identifying inadequacies in aircraft and requesting corrective action. Computing data, summarizing results, and preparing reports or charts depicting pertinent relationships using statistical methods. Reading, interpreting, and applying technical data such as blueprints, engineering drawings, product specifications, or technical manuals. Reviewing written quality or inspection procedures for adequacy, and evaluating the implementation and effectiveness of quality/inspection systems, including sampling plans. OR To substitute education for specialized experience, sufficient substitutions include completion of Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, if related; 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, if related; or LL.M., if relatedOR Combination of education and experience.National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
