This position is located at Freedom Lanes Bowling and Entertainment Center which is part of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department aboard Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Florida.
Duties
The successful candidate will:
Perform duties as such short order grill cook and/or assist the cook in the preparation of lunch or dinner meals.
Performs a limited variety of tasks, such as grilling foods to order, i.e., hamburgers, pancakes, bacon, eggs, etc.
Select food items to be services and ensure their freshness. Take direct customer orders or ticket orders from waitresses ensuring items are cooked to order, served using authorized portion controls and temperature and turning to avoid burning.
Assist/or prepare simple items such as sandwiches, soups, salads. Measure and weighs ingredients according to simple recipes or as directed.
Place cooked food on serving dishes, steam or food carts.
Ensure group orders are served simultaneously.
Keep grills, stoves, refrigerators and working areas in a neat and clean manner in accordance with safety and sanitation regulations.
Notify supervisors of items needed in order to maintain stock.
May be required to assist in taking inventory.
May be required to collect money, operate a cash register and prepare necessary documentation for cash fund accountability.
May be required to occasionally perform other duties within the facility.
Requirements
- Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
- A valid State driver's license is required to operate motor vehicles.
- Must have salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
- Must go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9.
- Must provide proof of U.S. Citizenship or U.S. National.
- Must successfully pass the E-verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
- Must reside within 50 miles of 32212.
Qualifications

One year of specialized experience directly related to the duties described above.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Requires knowledge in preparing grilled items, salads, cold cut sandwiches and use of related appliances.
Requires knowledge of janitorial maintenance, products and ability to perform cleaning duties independently. Must have ability to follow oral and written instructions, use kitchen equipment (chopper, grinders, shredders, meal slicer) and to determine when foods are properly cooked.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
