Duties

Assist the Equal Employment Office (EEO) Director and the EEO staff in processing complaints of discrimination and complaint-related documentation, and support to the EEO investigation process. Receives appeals of final Agency decision and final orders, prepares cases and coordinates receipt of briefs to ensure timely response. Serves as an EEO Counselor for the processing of basic EEO complaints of employment discrimination. Assist the Reasonable Accommodation (RA) program by tracking all requests. Assist with research and preparation of plans for implementing affirmative employment programs. Serves as the records custodian, ensuring that official office records are maintained in accordance with record schedule and guidance.

Qualifications

You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement. You must meet the minimum qualification requirements as stated in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, http://www.opm.gov/qualifications/Standards/group-stds/gs-prof.asp. Proficiency Requirement: You must be able to type at least 40 words per minute. Specialized Experience: In addition to meeting the typing proficiency requirement, you must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-07 or equivalent level. Specialized experience must be documented in your resume.Specialized experience includes; assisting in analyzing and processing discrimination complaints; providing advice and guidance to employees and managers regarding EEO policies, programs, requirements and procedures; assisting in reaching and preparations of plans for implementing affirmative employment programs; reviewing correspondence for completeness, correctness, consistency, and grammatical accuracy, and proper coordination; and screening telephone calls and visitors, and responding to requests for information. . Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience: For the GS-08 level, eighteen months of graduate education may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement when education is directly related to the position being filled. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.
