You will serve as a SUPERVISORY RECREATION SPECIALIST in the FLEET READINESS DEPARTMENT of NAVAL STA NT RI.

Duties

You will administer direct staff support in all matters concerning recreational use and facility development. You will develop a balanced sports and physical fitness program (e.g., self-directed activities, clinics, tournaments, special events, team competition, personal training) to maximize use of facilities, services, and resource. You will train assigned personnel in fitness program requirements. You will convey policy and guidance for the development of cost-effective projects within a recreational program.

Requirements

  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS 09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Displaying a keen understanding of a wide range of principles, concepts, and techniques that govern physical fitness programs, including exercise science, strength conditioning, nutrition, weight loss/control, cardiovascular endurance, exercise requirements, and projected results; 2) Planning and executing a comprehensive fitness, aquatics, and/or sports program that includes a variety of fitness and aquatics activities for individual and team sports; 3) Exhibiting an understanding of anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology relating to exercise and physical fitness, in addition to military physical fitness standards and testing procedures; and 4) Analyzing and interpreting Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policies and procedures, preparing budgets and budgeting processes, and performing supervisory duties. Education


In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
  • Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or
  • 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or
  • LL.M., if related
