You will serve as a Pipefitter in the Production Division, Public Works Department Great Lakes of NAV FACILITIES ENGINEERING COMMAND SE.
Duties
You will assist with installing, modifying and repairs on new and existing high pressure piping systems such as steam heating, steam generation and condensate systems.
You will assist with laying out the routing, placement, pitch, elevation, pressure reduction, expansion and operation of various piping systems and equipment.
You will assist with disassembly, repair, and rebuild component parts of equipment such as flash and expansion tanks, circulating pumps, heat exchangers and radiators.
You will accomplish work from written instructions, work orders, sketches, diagrams, plans and blueprints.
You will locate leaks, stoppages and various sources of troubles in a swift manner.
You will use measuring tapes, squares, levels and other tools to plan, layout, measure, cut, construct and install materials according to dimensional requirements and specifications.
You will utilize proper methods for handling hazardous substances such as asbestos and lead.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

1) Accomplishing work from written instructions, work orders, sketches, diagrams, plans and blueprints; 2) Using measuring tapes, squares, levels and other tools to plan, layout, measure, cut, construct and install materials according to dimensional requirements and specifications; 3) Distinguishing between the different kinds and sizes of pipe and material and joining various kinds of pipe by threaded sweated joints, plastic cement unions, flanges or other means; 4) Locating leaks, stoppages and various sources of troubles in a swift manner; 5) Exercise knowledge of power machinery and hand tools such as pipe cutter and threading machines, electric hand drills, pipe bending machines, wrenches, reamers, stocks and dies, gas furnaces, lead pots, blow torches, chain tongs and falls; 6) Utilizing proper methods for handling hazardous substances such as asbestos and lead.
