This position is being filled under the Direct Hire Authority for Recent Graduates.
HIS POSITION IS BEING FILLED AT THE GS-07, Target GS-11 LEVEL ONLY.
Duties
Assist senior level engineers with environmental programs and projects, including work for the Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP), Defense Environmental Restoration Program, USEPA Superfund, and other HTRW projects.
Determine the environmental needs for feasibility studies, investigations, sampling and testing activities, and design requirements.
Contribute to the preparation of plans and specifications for project construction.
Prepare scopes of work, cost estimates, and other necessary contracting documents to obtain professional services to accomplish project work.
Review applicable codes, standards, and other available environmental compliance criteria to determine specific environmental needs of projects.

Recent Graduate: a person who was awarded a degree by an institution of higher education not more than two years before the date of the appointment of the applicant. Exception: For a person who has completed a period of obligated service in a uniformed service of more than four years, the degree may be awarded by an institution of higher education not more than four years before the date of the appointment of the applicant.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
GS-07: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes applying various engineering techniques to assist in projects; using cost estimation through education, training and/or experience; preparing correspondence, studies, technical reports etc.; and communicating ideas with personnel associated with the work assignments.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Education
