You will serve as a Motor Vehicle Operator in the Material Management Department of the Naval Sea Logistics Center (NSLC)(NAVSEALOGCENKYPTDIVNUWC MECH PA).located at Keyport, WA.

Duties

You will work independently under general instructions from the supervisor regarding deadlines and priorities following established methods and procedures. You will ensure quality of work is in accordance with the guidelines and specifications of Standard Operating Procedures, Navy, NAVSEA, NSLC, and local instructions. You will operates Material Handling Equipment (MHE) in excess of 30,000 pound capacity. You will be responsible for performing operational inspections for vehicles to include items as loose parts, damaged or worn tires, proper air pressure in tires, functioning lights. You will perform operational level maintenance of these items and reporting operation level maintenance of these items and reporting any mechanical defects to the supervisor. You will operate power take-offs and hydraulic systems used to raise and lower trailer ramps, dock plates, and elevators, as well as the use of rollback trailers. You will update supply databases, such as Navy Enterprise Resource Planning (N-ERP) to generate trip manifests and to create or update records to ensure that material movement transactions are processed. You will cognizant of stricter safety rules and regulations when working around explosives and crane operations.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain a Forklift/Material Handling Equipment (MHE) license within 90 days of appointment and maintain thereafter.
  • You are required to possess a Class A Commercial Drivers License to qualify for the position upon appointment.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a HAZMAT endorsement of the Class A Commercial Drivers License within 90 days of appointment.
  • This position may be required to work various shifts, will assist in snow removal operation, and is subject to call in at any hour for required work or emergencies with 2 hour notification.
  • Nature of work requires lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 40 pounds, with heavier items being assisted by others, or with lifting devices.
