Duties

The primary purpose of this position is: to serve as an Air Reserve Technician (ART) performing the role and responsibilities of the Senior Munitions Inspector performing both on and off ordnance equipment maintenance and to train reservists in the accomplishment of tasks set forth herein. Duties: 1: Performs duties as a senior munitions inspector, responsible for performing, certifying, coordinating, and/or overseeing the maintenance of all munitions systems and equipment. 2: Manages the munitions inspection training program. Plans and conducts training of reservists and other employees. Provides proper allocation, control, care, and use of ordnance and related equipment to customers. 3: Sets up and operates software controlled automatic test equipment (ATE) to test and troubleshoot complex electronic components of missiles and ordnance systems. 4: Receives stores, handles, and transports ammunition, rockets, unguided and guided weapons and countermeasures, demolition material, and other types of conventional ordnance. 5: Complies with all federal, DOD, USAF, state, and local regulations concerning hazardous material and waste including all explosive items.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-6600 - Armament Work Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of an Ordnance Equipment Mechanic Inspector without more than normal supervision. JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Comprehensive knowledge of munitions storage procedures and maintenance methods and procedures to troubleshoot, repair, modify, and test systems of a variety of aircraft ordnance systems including support and test equipment, sub-assemblies, and associated handling equipment or devices. 2. Knowledge of explosive safety, security, and transportation regulations, practices, and procedures. Detailed working knowledge and ability to perform all required duties of an Ordnance Equipment Mechanic. Knowledge of ordnance systems maintenance, inspection, storage, and transportation rules, practices procedures, principles and policies including safe operation of various light and heavy machinery and vehicles and assorted tools. 3. Skill in the use of test equipment and measuring devices such as leak detectors, feeler gauges, dial indicators, micrometers, bore sight tools, multi-meters, voltmeters, and ammeters and in automated and manual computer systems operations including systems such as the Combat Ammunition System, IMDS/O081, AMST, Tactical Munitions Reporting System, AFMC2, and Web Federal Logistics Information System (WebFLIS). 4. Ability to interpret technical orders, technical manuals, blueprints, schematic drawings, and other technical information and skill to apply the data. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to plan and organize training includes determining resources requirements, developing lesson plans, schedules and conducting training. 5. Ability to inspect, troubleshoot, repair, modify, adjust, and test a variety of aircraft ordnance systems using electronic, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic principles of operation such as missile and special weapons launching devices, decoys, CAD/PAD items, and rocket launching equipment. 6. SEl 836 and either 2 years of continuous munitions inspector experience within the past 48 months or attendance to the AETC in-resident or Mobile Training Team course within the past 48 months is desirable. OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS: 1. This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. Must meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. The incumbent's regular assignments are primarily ART duties; however, the incumbent may also be assigned some non-­ART duties, generally not to exceed 30% of total responsibilities. Work schedules will be so aligned to allow the individual to function fully on unit training assembly (UTA) weekends. 2. Incumbent may be required to secure a valid state, commercial driver's license with hazardous Materials endorsement. 3. Personal protective equipment must be worn in compliance with safety and health directives. 4. Position requires that the incumbent obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance. 5. May be required to travel on commercial or military aircraft when TDY is needed. 6. May be required to work uncommon tours of duty. 7. "This position ls covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968, An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position." 8. This Is a testing designated position (TDP). The employee Is subject to random drug testing. 9. Incumbent must be qualified in the use of required weapons, as the incumbent will be required to use firearms in performing duties. 10. IAW DoDI 3020-42 this position has been locally, or command designated as Mission Essential (ME); needed to ensure the continued operation of mission essential functions of the activity. Mission Essential personnel may be required to report for duty at normal times when the base is closed or delayed reporting and remain on duty during phased or early release. Hours of repeated bending are 4 hours/week. Hours of climbing, legs only, are 8 hours/week. Climbing, use of legs and arms. Both legs required. Operation of crane, truck, tractor, or motor vehicle. Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. Near vision correctable at 13 inches to 16 inches to Jaeger 1 to 4. Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and 20/40 in the other. Both eyes required. Depth perception required. Ability to distinguish basic colors. Ability to distinguish shades of color.
