About the Position: These positions are located at Evans Army Community Hospital, Fort Carson, Colorado. A recruitment incentive may be authorized.

Duties

Perform regular and modified short order food preparation. Prepare limited breakfast foods that will involve grilling or frying. Perform patient tray service duties to include the assembly of patient trays. Set up and replenishing the salad bar in accordance with established procedures. Operate a variety of kitchen equipment, which utilizes gas, electricity, steam or microwave heat sources. Arrange food items for regular and modified diets. Maintain proper food safety and sanitation standards.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
• Moderate to heavy lifting up to 45 pounds may be required.
• This position may require rotating shifts (i.e. work schedule that requires employees to continuously rotate from one shift to another at predetermined intervals).
• A pre-placement medical examination is required.
• Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.

I have the ability to perform common duties such as preparing and cooking a variety of simple menu items that require little or no processing; setting up and serving hot and/or cold food on cafeteria and patient tray lines adhering to portion control; following safety and sanitation procedures in food handling and in cleanup. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Incumbent is exposed to minor cuts, burns, bruises, and scalds. There is danger of slipping on floors which are wet from mopping and spilled liquids. Incumbent may be exposed to extreme temperatures of heat and cold from the hot kitchen to the refrigerated areas.
