About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the US Army North, Assistant Chief of Staff, G2 with duty location at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

Duties

Serves as a Security Specialist with multiple assigned responsibilities for personnel security, information security, and foreign disclosure. Responsible for the development and implementation of command policies and procedures to support a Personnel Security program. Administers the Information Security Program to ensure the safeguarding of national security information. Conducts regular security survey inspections to ascertain organizational adequacy and conformance with all policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance based on an SBI with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
  • Temporary Duty (TDY) travel may be required approximately 25% or less of the time.
  • May require the ability to obtain and maintain a valid government issued drivers license.
  • May require the use of protective clothing or equipment mandated by the Safety and Environmental Office.
  • This position has been identified for the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification Program. Must obtain the Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within the first two years of employment.

Specialized experience is defined as: 1) experience with personnel security that includes reviewing, evaluating, and adjudicating reports of investigations, personnel files, and other records to determine whether to grant, deny, revoke, suspend, or restrict security clearances consistent with national security and/or suitability issues AND 2) experience with information security principles, concepts, laws, regulations and directives pertaining to classified information to ensure the classified or sensitive information or material is properly safeguarded. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-09). Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series. OR A Ph.D or equivalent Degree that is closely related to the position. Closely Related constitutes a degree which has educated the student in pertinent, specific position-related subject matter allowing the student to develop knowledge and abilities directly applicable to the position being filled such as National Security Studies, Political Science, International Relations/Foreign Affairs, Security Management/Administrations.
