Position is located in the Clinical Services Division, Four Corners Regional Health Center, in Red Mesa, AZ. Shiprock Service Unit. This position is responsible for coordinating efforts to comply with the requirements that support the use of the electronic health record. Incumbent reports to Clinical Director.
Duties
THIS POSITION IS PART-TIME ONLY AND DOES NOT LEAD TO FULL-TIME EMPLOYMENT.
Serve as the Meaningful Use (MU) Coordinator to coordinate efforts to comply with requirements on a continuous basis supporting the use of the EHR and other multi-service automated applications.
Develop and maintain a system for registering hospital and clinical providers; identify solutions to problems to meet MU measures; submit reports and communications to meet MU requirements; communicate and coordinate with clinical staff to ensure documentation requirements are met; ensure all EHR/MU deadlines are met.
Provide required documents to Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), New Mexico and Arizona Medicaid, and Business Office to support MU Attestation for Medicare and Medicaid Incentive programs; identify and obtain additional information required by Indian Health Service (IHS) Headquarters; participate in conference call and webinars; ensure needed patches and upgrades have been installed; addresses problems experienced by providers; identify solutions as appropriate.
Ensure initiatives, issues, and problems are identified and corrected/addressed in a timely manner; adhere to policies; promote an awareness of the importance of data validity and data security; coordinate efforts to correct deficiencies and errors that occur in the electronic health records.
Evaluates existing health record software modules and programs; provide training to staff; coordinate with Information Resource Management staff and other application coordinators to implement integrated packages, resolve conflicts, provide secondary support on related software modules and ensure smooth operations.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Individual Occupational Requirements
Education: Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained.
For positions at grades GS-12 and above involved in professional work in grants administration, qualifying experience is considered to be experience in grants administration in areas of science, medical and healthcare fields similar or related to the work of the position. Such experience must have involved professional judgment of a kind and level of difficulty and responsibility essential to successful performance in the position to be filled.
In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples include: Coordinating multi-service software applications used in a hospital setting, customizing software, developing and implementing a standardized integrated health care information system.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
