This Social Science Program Coordinator position is located in Connected Care Service at the VA Maine Health Care System location. This position is a Full-Time at 40 per week.
Duties
The incumbent serves as a Social Science Program Coordinator - Employee Whole Health Coordinator and will have full responsibility for administering all aspects of the local initiative to support the health and well-being of employees. The Employee Whole Health Coordinator has the ultimate responsibility for planning and implementation of the local employee well-being program based on national guidance provided by the national Employee Whole Health program office.

BASIC REQUIREMENT
You MUST meet the Basic Requirements and the Minimum Qualifications to qualify for this Social Science Program Coordinator position.
BASIC EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: Four (4) years of appropriate experience in a position that demonstrates you have the acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. NOTE: Your experience must be fully documented in your resume and must include job title; duties; month & year start/end dates AND hours worked per week.

BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Successfully completed a full four (4) year course of study at an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's degree or higher, with a major study in behavioral science, social science, or related disciplines appropriate to this position. The number of semester hours required to constitute a major field of study is the amount specified by the college or university attended. If this number cannot be obtained, 24 semester hours will be considered as equivalent to a major field of study. COMBINATION OF BASIC EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A combination of education and experience that included courses equivalent to a major in behavioral or social science or a subject-matter field appropriate to this position, plus appropriate experience that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a 4-year course of study described above. The quality of the combination of education and experience must be sufficient to demonstrate that you possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform work in this occupation. In addition to meeting the above requirements, you must also meet one of the following minimum requirements for the grade level that you are applying.
To qualify for this position at the GS-9 level, you must meet one of the following:
Specialized Experience: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-7) in the Federal Service, that is directly related to the work of the position and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties as a Social Science Program Coordinator. Qualifying specialized experience includes: reviewing supporting material to determine compliance with regulations and policy requirements; assists in planning and implementing program(s) within a medical center setting; using creativity to engage employees and community partners in a newly developed program; developing training materials for staff educational needs; and experience using a wide range of qualitative and quantitative methods for the assessment and improvement of program effectiveness.

Education: Successfully completed two (2) years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree in a related field of the position to be filled. Education at the graduate level must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. Combination: Combinations of successfully completed graduate level education (beyond the first year) and specialized experience as described above, to meet the total experience requirements. The education portion must include graduate courses that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do to the work of this position. This education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. NOTE: Transcripts must be submitted with your application materials. Education cannot be credited without documentation. Experience must be clearly indicated in your resume.
To qualify for this position at the GS-11 level, you must meet one of the following:
Specialized Experience: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-9) in the Federal Service, that is directly related to the work of the position and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties as a Social Science Program Coordinator. Qualifying specialized experience includes: advising, educating, and assisting with planning, developing, and implementing a newly developed program; Performing data collection and analysis for assigned medical center programs; experience using a wide range of qualitative and quantitative methods for the assessment and improvement of program effectiveness; conducting need assessments of employees to determine program needs and interests; and managing program budget and responsible for purchasing a variety of products, materials, and goods used for promotional opportunities and activities.

Education: Successfully completed 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree, or Ph.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in the related field of the position to be filled. The education portion must include courses that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. Note: One (1) full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements: While some of the work is sedentary including researching, writing, program planning and data analysis, the position will have periods of extensive walking and movement throughout the healthcare system, prolonged standing, and transporting light to medium weight objects. The Employee Whole Health coordinator will also be required to travel between sites (CBOCs and outlying clinics) encompassed in the healthcare system. The work is conducted in a medical center environment and involves risk of exposure to a variety of contagious diseases. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, air conditioned, and ventilated.
