Duties

This position serves as the Seasonal Audio-Visual Technology Specialist in the Division of Museum Services and Interpretation of Gateway Arch National Park in St. Louis, Missouri. The primary purpose of this position is to assist with the maintenance of the audiovisual displays and exhibits located in the park's state-of-the-art museum and theatre during the park's busy summer season. Position is responsible for applying knowledge of audiovisual technology and exhibit maintenance concepts to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve very basic audiovisual issues and assist the completion of a variety of well-precedented projects and assignments in support of the Division of Museum Services and Interpretation, as well as park partners. Physical Demands: The work requires standing for long periods of time, walking for long distances, climbing and descending steep inclines, bending, and lifting moderately heavy items. Mental stress and physical fatigue occur due to high volume of personal contacts, occasional emergency responses, and repetitive nature of interpretive programs. Working Environment: Work is performed both indoors and outdoors resulting in exposure to a variety of weather conditions. Area Information: NO Government Housing is available. The Gateway Arch National Park is located in downtown St. Louis, Missouri, on the banks of the Mississippi River. The park memorializes the city's role in westward expansion through the 630 foot Gateway Arch and underground Museum at the Gateway Arch. The Old Courthouse commemorates the site where the slave Dred Scott began his freedom suit, ultimately leading to the divisive U. S. Supreme Court decision that polarized the nation and became a leading cause of the Civil War. Qualifications

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-04/25/2024-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience. To qualify for this position at the GS-05 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: general knowledge in the fields of radio, movie, television, and audiovisual communication that could include assisting with maintaining and sustaining full range of audiovisual technology and exhibit maintenance concepts, techniques, and methods in order to identify, troubleshoot and resolve basic issues involved in operating and maintaining electronic, digital and networked exhibits, displays, and theaters. Assist with a variety of well-precedented related projects and assignments in support of the Division of Museum Services and Interpretation, as well as park partners. Knowledge of sound amplification, live sound systems and recordings, digital video recording and playback, optical projection electronic programing, digital video and digital photography, and electronic web media. You must include hours per week worked on your resume. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least four years of education above high school (120 semester hour or 180 quarter hours) leading to a bachelor's degree in a related field of study that demonstrated the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. You MUST submit a copy of your transcripts indicating degree earned and credit hours in order to qualify based on education. A copy of your official transcripts will be required before entrance on duty, if selected. -OR- Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. NOTE: Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours of a course of study leading to a bachelor's degree is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirements. You MUST submit a copy of your transcripts indicating degree earned and credit hours in order to qualify based on education. A copy of your official transcripts will be required before entrance on duty, if selected. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.

If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
