As the Chief, Independent Office of Appeals you will serve as the chief advisor, reporting directly to the Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service, on matters impacting taxpayer appeal rights of individuals, tax exempt and government entities, self-employed, and small, mid-sized, large, and international businesses.
As the Chief, Independent Office of Appeals your duties and responsibilities include:
Qualifications
As a basic requirement applicants must provide evidence of progressively responsible leadership and supervisory experience. Typically, experience of this nature will have been gained at or above the GS-15 grade level in the federal service or its equivalent leadership level within state or local government, private sector or non-government organization. As such, your resume should demonstrate you have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully fulfill the responsibilities of the position such as:
Directing the work of an organizational unit
Ensuring the success of one or more specific major programs or projects
Monitoring progress toward strategic organizational goals, evaluating organizational performance and taking action to improve performance; and
Supervising the work of other managers and exercising important policy making, policy determining, or other executive functions.
In addition to the basic qualifications the applicant must demonstrate in their resume experience or expertise in:
administration of, and compliance with, Federal tax laws;
a broad range of compliance cases; and
management of large service organizations in their resumes.
