This position is located within the United States Department of Agriculture; Agricultural Research Service; National Agricultural Library; Data Production Division; Digitization & Access Branch; Beltsville MD.
In this position, you will serve as a collection management technician, enhance metadata at the item level, utilize digitization equipment and related software, and maintain large format printer and other exhibit building related equipment.
Duties
Perform preliminary cataloging, recording such information as title data, personal name, edition data, publisher and place and date of publication.
Follow established policies and practices of the library system to make recommendations on such matters as the need to cataloging and reparative records work for library material.
Provides digitization and imaging services for the high production program as well for internal and external clients.
Searches large in-house data bases for best condition copies of cataloged and non-cataloged materials in general and archival collections.
Requirements
- You must be a US Citizen or US National.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.
GS-08
Specialized Experience: To be eligible for this position at this grade level, you must have one (1) year of specialized experience at a level equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. The specialized experience requirements for this position are: find and review MARC records in Alma in support of a digitization program, review and create metadata for upload/ingest into the Internet archive, and use CyberArk as part of my process for accessing network shares and tools.
Time in grade:
Current federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.
