Duties

Manages a business activity as an assistant manager. Recommends and enforces operating procedures. Represents the activity to the public, conducts surveys, reviews activity reports, and makes recommendations concerning revenue improvement. Instructs patrons of a recreational facility in horsemanship, applying knowledge of equestrian activities. Assists with individual rentals, boarding, group events such as pony circles, organized trail rides, youth horse camp, and special events. Promotes interest in programming by making presentations to units, schools, and interfacing with other recreational activities. Conducts riding lessons, organizes group events, and horse camps for children. May assist with feeding, care of horses, basic maintenance repairs of riding equipment, and trail rides. May operate a vehicle to deliver horses to special events. Monitors activities to determine budget process for financial accountability. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Appointment subject to favorable suitability determination.
• This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and requires pre-employment and periodic drug testing.
• A pre-employment occupational physical is required for this position.
• Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 45 pounds and be able to stand, walk, and bend for lengthy periods of time.
• Must be willing and able to work days, evenings, and weekends as needed.
• Must be willing and able to travel occasionally to on and off post locations in support of horse shows, purchasing, or for special events.
• Satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
• Incumbent may also be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally controlled facilities.
• Must possess a valid state drivers license.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Work experience or education directly related to the duties to be performed. HIGHLY PREFERRED: One (1) year or more experience in instructing riding skills in English and/or Western pleasure.
