This position is located in Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Directorate of Logistics, Base Miami Beach (Richmond Heights), Personnel Department, in Miami Beach FL.

Duties

This position is located in the USCG BMB Personal Property Shipping Office (PPSO) and is responsible for providing advice and assistance to employees and ensuring timely, economical and procedurally correct preparation of documents to authorize shipping and transportation services.

• The position requires a valid state driver's license.
• This position requires travel.

Qualifications

You qualify for the GS-07 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience at the GS-06 grade level.  Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Specialized experience includes: Participates in seminars, conferences, and meetings to discusses problems and latest changes in transportation matters, ensuring that changes in regulations, polices, or procedures are incorporated into operating procedures. Prepares reports, messages, replies to telephonic and written communication for shipping information and assists in tracer actions that are complex in nature. Makes recommendations for improving the timeliness of services or reducing cost. Performs damage claims, billing, warehouse, and household goods/personal effects inspections. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.  If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
