This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, Base Boston, Industrial Production Facility South Portland, South Portland, ME.
Duties
The purpose of the position is to utilize the knowledge and application of painter trade practices. Being a Coast Guard Civilian makes you a valuable member for the Coast Guard team.Typical work assignments include:-Preparing metal surfaces for coating by dry and wet abrasive blasting, grinding with abrasive disks and wheels, chemical stripping methods and by pickling or through controlled oxidation.-Preparing fiber reinforced plastic surfaces by filling, shaping and abrasive sanding.-Preparing masonry surfaces by mechanical and abrasive blasting methods.-Preparing wood surfaces by filling and sanding.-Mixing and applying standard coatings such as enamels, latex emulsions, varnishes and lacquers by brush, roller, air, or airless spray methods. -Developing coatings of proper color, texture and consistency; adjusting hue, intensity and tone to match existing color schemes.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Applicant is required to meet the physical requirements of the position.
- The position requires a valid state driver's license.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
Qualifications
