This National Guard position is for a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, Position Description Number D1291000 and is part of the PA Combined Support Maintenance Shop West, National Guard. 1 or more Position(s) may be hired against this Announcement.

Duties

As a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, WS-5801-11 you will plan use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, and materials on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis. Assign tasks to be performed based on readiness and explains work requirements, methods, and procedures. Plan and establish overall leave schedules. Perform non-supervisory work, such as, transporting equipment, performing maintenance tasks, etc. Develop, publish, and ensure employee compliance with standing operating procedures for the activity supervised. Prepare for and participate in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises. Perform other duties as assigned.

• This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
• Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

• Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

Qualifications

APPOINTMENT STATUS: EXCEPTED This is a Dual Status Excepted Service Technician position in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. AREA OF CONSIDERATION: Bargaining Position AOC 1: NG Employees working at the location specified AOC 2: NG Employees of the Pennsylvania National Guard Military Grades: WARRANT OFFICER WO1 to CW3 Supervisor for this position is CW3 Kaczmarek -If selected as a new supervisor in the Federal Government Civil Service, you may have to complete a one-year probationary period. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates that the candidate has the ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations. QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience, training, and education must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position to be filled.
