Duties
Nurse Educator will collaborate with MRC nursing employees and managers in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating orientation, continuing education, nursing competency and in-service education programs at the individual level and organizational level. Provides education experiences that facilitate competent nursing practice and quality patient care delivery, facilitating new nurse orientation and providing support for staff in unit based orientation efforts by using advanced skills that engage staff in learning, including but not limited to group activities, simulation and online or computer-based methods. Plans, develops and directs a program of education for all nursing service personnel and coordinates nursing staff development with other nursing service programs and institutional programs.Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.

Qualifications
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements. Basic Requirements:Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor’s degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission of Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.AND
Licensure: Applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.NOTE:ALL applicants MUST electronically upload proof of current, active, full and unrestricted license or registration for verification at the time you apply.All qualified referred candidates will undergo a credentialing process. At least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or above) and possession of a diploma, associate degree, bachelor degree or master’s degree in Nursing from a professional nursing program.
Some examples of qualifying experience are:
Experience and knowledge of Health Services and institutional policies and procedures relevant to the delivery of health care to inmates in the inpatient and outpatient settings.
Experience in planning, developing, and directing a program of education for nursing personnel.
Experience in assisting in planning, organizing and evaluating clinical skills training.
Experience in developing tools for competency assessments, assessing training needs and providing/arranging educational programs.
