About the Position: This is a Engineering Technician GS-0802-09 position with the USACE Little Rock District, Operations Division. This position is with Beaver Lake Project Office and is located in Rogers, AR. This position can be filled at the entry level GS-07, with promotion potential to the GS-08 then to GS-09, OR at the intermediate level GS-08, with promotion potential to GS-09, OR at the full performance GS-09.
This position is exclusively represented by Local 2219 IBEW AFL-CIO.
Duties
Prepare detailed work plans including drawings, specifications, bills of material, and cost estimates
Operate motor vehicles
Perform maintenance and construction work of a technical nature
Supervise work of contractors
Perform routine inspection on structures to ensure maintenance integrity and readiness for operation
Requirements
- Requires Pre-Employment and annual Physical Exam.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) certification.

GS-07 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1 of the following 2 duties: 1) preparing simple scopes of work for maintenance or construction contracts OR 2) working with senior personnel to perform facility maintenance repairs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
GS-8 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 2 of the following 3 duties:1) Developing maintenance and construction site plans OR, 2) Performing contract activities such as drafting plans or coordinating work of contractors; OR, 3) Assisting with site inspections to evaluate contractor work against contract specifications. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
GS-09 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 2 of the following 3 duties: 1) Working with contractor representatives to address contract modifications OR, 2) Preparing contract estimates OR 3) Developing operation and maintenance work plans for civil work projects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: engineering, construction, industrial technology;
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Education
