Duties
The United States Space Force (USSF) at Schriever Space Force Base (CO) is searching for Telecommunication Cryptographic Planner for the 4 SOPS (NH-0391-03, GS 12/13 equivalent).
Description:
Performs as the Milstar, Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF), Enhanced Polar System (EPS), Enhanced Polar System - Recapitalization Cryptographic Planner and as a senior technical analyst and advisor to satellite command and control (C2) engineering and communications element. Provides, develops, reviews and refines input to system level policies and procedures for management, control and delivery of AEHF, Milstar and EPS COMSEC and Cryptographic key material. Plans, organizes, coordinates, and manages satellite cryptographic needs, and satellite resource monitoring. As a Telecommunications Specialist performs technical analysis involving evaluation of viable alternatives to satisfy system requirements and recommends best alternatives.
Ideal Candidate:
A background in Military Satellite Communications and Communications Security (COMSEC). Knowledge of Protected Key Management Architecture (PKMA), Key Translation Element, and the Central AEHF Key Management Station. Knowledge of Advanced Extremely High Frequency user terminals. Strong writing and speaking skills.
Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of processes and procedures related to program management and strategic planning activities needed to execute projects and/or studies within established financial and time constraints.
2. Knowledge of the principles, methods, and practices for integrating information system components sufficient to plan, coordinate, and administer computer systems, and optimize system performance.
3. Knowledge of the latest advancements in technology to initiate corrective or preventative action to ensure optimum performance of the system.
4. Knowledge of performance tuning tools, database management, and project management methods sufficient to optimize systems performance, troubleshoot database performance problems, and perform a wide range of Systems administration functions.
5. Knowledge of operating systems, associated devices, and the interoperability of systems sufficient to install, upgrade, troubleshoot, test, and maintain those systems; to optimize the functionality and performance of systems; and to ensure the availability, integrity, efficiency, and reliability of servers.
6. Ability to apply methods and practices for troubleshooting, recovering, adjusting, modifying, and improving systems to solve complex problems, provide support that minimizes interruptions in service to customers, and maintain liaison with industry and other activities to provide awareness of state-of-the-art technology.
7. Skill in working with customers to assess needs, provide assistance, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations.
8. Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
9. Ability to organize work, set priorities, and determine resource requirements; determine goals and strategies to achieve them; coordinate with other organizations; monitor progress, and evaluate outcomes.
10. Ability to identify problems and use sound judgment and decisions to generate and evaluate alternatives and make recommendations.

- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- May be required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise; must obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance for the position.
- Incumbent may be required to report to work during base exercises, contingencies, or emergency situations and overtime/comp time/credit hours may be required to accomplish assigned duties.
