You will serve as a CORRESPONDENCE CLERK (TYPING) in the Secretariat Division, Bureau of Medicine and Surgery of BUREAU OF MEDICINE AND SURGERY.

Duties

You will assist the Director for Secretariat ensuring accurate disposition of all controlled incoming official mail received for the Surgeon General of the Navy and Chief, BUMED. -You will type official letters, memoranda, reports, etc., into final form directly from rough drafts. You will create, manipulate, store and retrieve assignments from word processing and print equipment. You will mail and forward completed Congressional responses to Congressman and Senators. You will attend professional and technical seminars and training to keep current on new systems and technological advances. You will maintain all office files and records of various types to include updating and purging per regulations. You will serve as Supply Coordinator for the Secretariat, placing and tracking supply orders.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination.
  • This position is eligible for part time, substantial or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time
  • Relocation expenses (i.e. PCS) may be authorized in accordance with applicable travel regulations.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Utilizing automated systems/software effectively (i.e., e-mail, web browsers, word processors, spreadsheets, desktop publishing, and automated forms programs, etc.). Drafting, typing, and proofing letters, reports, instructions, and memoranda, including military and business writing styles. Communicating, both oral and written, with senior executive level officials, both military and civilian. Analyzing and evaluating tasker requirements and work processes. Recognizing and analyzing problems, conducting research, summarizing results and making appropriate recommendations. Performing database management operations utilizing Enterprise Knowledge Management (eKM) or similar databases.
