This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position:
This position is located in Rock Island, Illinois. WHC is an outpatient care clinic serving Active Duty Service Members, their families, and retirees. The working hours at 0700-1600 Monday through Friday with a one-hour lunch break from 1200-1300.
Duties
Take and record blood pressure, pulse, respirations, temperature, height and weight.
Receive telephone calls, patients, and visitors to the medical facility, ascertains the nature of the call or visit, obtains identifying information and determines the nature and urgency of the patient's request.
Scrub patient charts prior to appointment.
Administer vaccines and immunizations. Conduct hearing and visual exams.
Assist with patient referrals and screen in-coming patients.
Requirements
- You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.

- This position is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- All Health Care Providers must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) training and certification that is sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA).
- A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This is an inclement weather position. The incumbent is expected to make every attempt to report forduty on time and/or remain on duty during inclement weather conditions.
- Position requires the ability to lift 40 lbs.
- Position is designated as Mission Essential. The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Health Technician:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing clerical support within a medical treatment facility (MTF) or clinic; scheduling medical appointments for patients; screening, triaging, and taking vital signs for assigned patients. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR
Education: Four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major study or at least 24 semesters hours in subjects directly related to the position such as Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant, Health Technician, Health Science, or Health Services. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
